Brief Introduction
Gu Sui Bu is the name of traditional Chinese medicine. It is the dried rhizomes of
Drynaria fortunei in the Polypodiaceae Plant. It can be dug all year round. After digg-
ing out, it is removed silt, dried, and burned to remove fuzz (scales).
Rhizoma Drynariae is flat and long, curved and branched, with a length of 5 to 15
cm, a width of 1 to 1.5 cm and a thickness of 0.2 to 0.5 cm. The surface is densely co-
vered with dark brown to dark brown small scales, which is soft as hairs, brown or dark
brown after burning. And it is with raised or concave round leaf scars on both sides and
upper surface, and a few petiole residues and fibrous root residues. It is light, brittle and
easy to break. Meanwhile the cross section is reddish brown and the vascular bundles are
yellow punctate and arranged in rings. The smell is slight, the taste is light and slightly a-
stringent.
